Challenge
The Wilshire Grand Hotel sought to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance its image as an environmentally conscious business. However, the property presented a unique design challenge. With a roof featuring multiple orientations and pitches, and no suitable area for a ground mount system, the hotel needed a tailored solar solution.
Solution
A custom solar system was engineered that combined multiple ballasted roof systems, penetrated roof systems, and two carports, meeting 99% of the hotel’s energy needs. The carport design also incorporated electric vehicle charging stations, creating an additional revenue stream for the hotel. To further promote the hotel’s environmental commitment, the marketing team provided a lobby monitor and in-room display cards.
